Off the Tracks

A friend of mine is the drummer for this L.A. band, Atlantic Line. Their sound is soaring and cinematic and their design is equally striking. I am drawn to the variety and strength of their poster design, thanks to another friend of theirs, Corey Capetillo.

Brewing by Design

A few friends and I have started home brewing. This is the first batch that I helped to brew. One of my contributions, is naming the brew and designing a label for it's debut to a group of 50 or so friends.

Creative Spaces

In looking for inspiration to design our new office, my friend Dawn found the site, This Ain't No Disco. I love it's compilation of creative work spaces. I am only sad I didn't know about it sooner.

New Site (Beta) is Live

My new site, DesignEatsDesign.com is up and running. At least the Beta version is live. More is on it's way, including enhanced user interaction. Stay tuned.

Custom Toy or Leave-Behind

It would be great to create a leave-behind in a custom mold. This is a low-fi way to do, what looks like a pretty professional, small quantity batch.

Logo Animation

So, in an effort to pick up speed with my After Effects fluency, I am turning almost everything into an animation project. Including this logo animation for work (a non-profit organization). I did this last night. A friend of mine, who is an After Effects designer sat gave me a considerable insight.

Atl Brewing Photo Shoot 2: Bottling

Had a great time photographing at Atlanta Brewing Company again. This time I focused on their bottling process and the general layout of the production. Will return in a few days to observe brewing a batch.

Quaker Rocket

Quaker Oats new ad campaign "Go Humans Go" has a great selection of print, outdoor, commercials and events. It's a $100 million campaign. I can't find the commercial clip, but it is pretty cool.

Atlanta Beer Co. Photo Shoot 1

I went to Atlanta Brewing Co on Friday night for one of their tour and tasting nights. It was great. The weather was awesome and the light was perfect for some photos. Check out the first batch here (gallery). I'll return a few more times as I work on my book highlighting the brewery and their craft.

Local Designer Portfolio

So, in doing a random search, I came across this designer, David Werner, who went to Portfolio Center in '06 and has a portfolio site that encompasses his work there. He has lots of videos on this projects process and includes nice overlays of sketches with the final version. I am always intrigued by that.

Commercial Director

A great site for film directors who do mostly commercials. Check out Noam Murro. You seen many of this director's commercials, but it's impressive to see them all together. Great concepts and visuals.

Cool, icon-based card from UK designer. She has a cool, illustration style that is very iconic, but expressive.

NY Times looks at Title Sequences

In honor of the Oscars, the NY Times takes a look at several famous title sequences as great examples of good design in the craft.

What's that font?

This new iPhone app from myfonts.com allows you to take a picture of type and then it compares it against all the known typefaces in it's library and tell you the closest match.

Pentagram Exhibit Design

I love spacial and exhibit design where you can create a unique experience in an environment. This design by Pentagram is really cool. I want to live there.

Grid Patent

Winterhouse received a patent for a gridsystem
for screen-based applications based on the proportions of the classic tatami, as
illustrated by this prototype for the layout of a website page. I did not know we could do that. You mean, I could "invite" something patent worthy that doesn't require it's on infomercial?
